iSCSI Software Initiator für IBM AIX

Ab der AIX Version 5.2 ist ein iSCSI Software Initiator implementiert. Als Voraussetzung wird nur eine funktionierende TCP/IP Konfiguration benötigt. Ist ein Ping zum iSCSI Target erfolgreich, kann der iSCSI Software Initiator installiert werden.

Über Smitty "smitty -> chgiscsisw" (bzw. Devices - iSCSI - Configure iSCSI Protocol Device) wird der iSCSI Initiator erzeugt und konfiguriert. In der Datei /etc/iscsi/targets wird alles weitere konfiguriert, wenn als Discovery Policy "file" ausgewählt wurde. Ein Beispiel zeigt die folgende Datei:

Neben der reinen Konfiguration bietet das AIX einiges an Performance-Tuning für iSCSI. Folgende Werte inkl. des Vorgehens werden von IBM vorgeschlagen:

ifconfig en3 down
ifconfig en3 detach

chdev –a en3 –a jumbo_frames=yes
chdev –l en3 –a tcp_recvspace=262144
chdev –l en3 –a tcp_sendspace=262144
chdev –l en3 –a rfc1323=1

ifconfig en3 up

Neben dem Software Initiator beitet AIX auch ein iSCSI Software Target an. Der AIX-Server kann als iSCSI Server genutzt werden. Er stellt anderen Systemen LUNs zur Verfügung. Für Targets muss das "iSCSI target fileset" installiert sein. Es ist im AIX Expansion Pack enthalten.
